West Seneca, NY founded in the late 1750's (incorporated in 1851). Population as of 2000: 45,920. The original name for the town was Seneca, but since there was another town by the name of Seneca further east, the West was added to avoid any confusion...The first settlers were Native Americans over 1,000 years ago... The Ebenezers were the first white settlers who bought land from the indians...They had come from Germany where they were persecuted for their religious beliefs.
